An afternoon of music by living American composers, pitched at families and first-time concertgoers. Ballard and Brent Michael Davids, both Native American composers. It forms part of the Philharmonic's fiftieth-anniversary season.

New Music Reading Event

· · 210 Harvard Street · · ·

Selected composers hear their orchestral scores rehearsed by a full symphony orchestra and then take feedback from composer-in-residence Carlos Carrillo, guest mentors and the players themselves. The readings are open to the public, so the audience watches new pieces being worked on rather than performed. The Philharmonic runs them annually; this one falls in its fiftieth season.
