Seven plays by UMass Boston students, all receiving their first performance, given as enhanced staged readings rather than full productions and free to the public. The bill includes Donovan Ambroise's Jack and the Beans, about a talking can of beans, and Deleyah Creese's When Fall Comes Around Again. Michael Fennimore directs with two student directors; Ginger Lazarus is dramaturg.

Each year at commencement UMass Boston gives Chancellor's Awards for Distinguished Scholarship, Service and Teaching, and the winners are invited back to reflect on the award and their work. This year's speakers are Steve Ackerman for teaching, Neal Bruss for service, and Werner Kunz and Sharon Lamb for scholarship; Lamb, a psychologist, co-wrote Packaging Girlhood.

Dr. Brendan J. Prast, a family physician at Tufts Medicine, gives this year’s Gelfand Lecture, on advocacy in healthcare and the part physicians can play in improving the care their patients receive. The evening is hosted by Phi Delta Epsilon, the international medical fraternity, and attendance is by online registration.

Sarah Ruhl retells the Orpheus myth from his wife's side: Eurydice arrives in an underworld where she meets her dead father, who teaches her language again, and must choose between him and the husband climbing down to fetch her. Ruhl wrote it after her own father's death. Carrie Ann Quinn directs the UMass Boston production.

XV Literature in Portuguese Language Conference 2026

The fifteenth edition of a conference on literature written in Portuguese, hosted by UMass Boston's Department of Latin American and Iberian Studies and running from mid-morning into the early afternoon. Its field takes in the writing of Portugal, Brazil and the Portuguese-speaking countries of Africa and Asia, which have large communities in eastern Massachusetts. Attendance is by registration.

Rebecca Roesler's first concert as permanent conductor of the UMass Boston Orchestra and director of music education is a Tolkien programme, marking twenty-five years since the first Lord of the Rings film. The orchestra uses Howard Shore's score as the starting point rather than the whole evening, building out from it.
