The Metropolitan Wind Symphony hosts its 33rd annual Boston Festival of Bands, a free day-long concert held each year on the second Saturday in June, in which six invited bands each play a set of 35 to 40 minutes alongside MetWinds. Past festivals have drawn community and college wind ensembles and the occasional brass band from across New England. MetWinds' music director is Gabe Southard, who conducts at Gordon College.
