Kelundra Smith's new play draws on the 1881 Atlanta Washerwomen's Strike, one of the first major labor actions led by Black women in America. Inside a shared laundry co-op, a group of washerwomen organise for fair wages and for respect, turning daily work into collective resistance. Front Porch stages it in the Calderwood's Roberts Studio.

A successful Haitian-American lawyer confronts the truth that she does not want children, and the decision forces a reckoning with her mother, her heritage and “the life she has built in pursuit of everyone else’s dreams.” Phanésia Pharel's new play moves between present-day America and remembered Haiti. Pascale Florestal, Front Porch's associate artistic director, directs the production, which closes the company's tenth-anniversary season.
