The Wash

by Kelundra Smith

Front Porch Arts Collective · Stanford Calderwood Pavilion · Roberts Studio Theatre · 527 Tremont St · Boston · MA · South End

Kelundra Smith's new play draws on the 1881 Atlanta Washerwomen's Strike, one of the first major labor actions led by Black women in America. Inside a shared laundry co-op, a group of washerwomen organise for fair wages and for respect, turning daily work into collective resistance. Front Porch stages it in the Calderwood's Roberts Studio.
