Victorian Hair Jewelry Lecture & Workshop
Dr. Nora Carleson, Historic New England's Curator of Fashion and Decorative Arts, lectures on Victorian hair jewelry: the earrings, brooches, bracelets and necklaces made of human hair that were once commonplace across the United States. She covers the craft's history in New England, how the pieces were made and why they were popular, and artists who have taken it up again. Afterward participants make their own, with supplies and artificial hair provided.
