Lara Salahi discusses News–Academic Partnerships, her study of what happens when newsrooms and universities work together. Drawing on a political-economy framework and case studies, she examines the power between media, academia and the public, and shows how such partnerships arose as a strategic response to the collapse of community news. Dan Kennedy, the Northeastern journalism professor and author of The Return of the Moguls, joins her.
