Duruflé Requiem for All Souls’ Day
The Trinity Choirs sing Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem within the 5 pm Holy Eucharist for All Souls, a liturgy commemorating the dead that includes the reading of the Necrology and an Altar of Remembrance; select movements are also sung at the 10 am service. Duruflé completed the setting shortly after the Second World War, building it on the Gregorian chants of the Mass for the dead.
