Radius Ensemble: Auras
Radius Ensemble closes its season with a world premiere, a Radius commission for flute, violin, cello and piano by MIT's Keeril Makan. Thea Musgrave's Niobe for oboe and tape, a lament for the mythological mother's slain children, opens the programme, followed by Nostálgica for bassoon and strings by the American-Uruguayan Miguel del Águila. John Harbison's Nine Rasas takes clarinet, viola and piano through the nine emotional states of classical Indian aesthetics.
