Beethoven Bicentennial Celebration: Complete Cello Sonatas
All five of Beethoven's cello sonatas in one programme, marking the bicentenary of the composer's death: the two early Op. 5 sonatas, the two late Op. 102 works, and finally the A major Sonata, Op. 69. Dutch cellist Pieter Wispelwey, praised by The New York Times for his “unusually complete grasp of the music,” plays with pianist Pei-Shan Lee. Professor Anne Shreffler gives a pre-concert talk.
