Janáček Kreutzer Sonata Quartet and Beethoven Razumovsky Quartet — Brookline
Beethoven's E minor Quartet, Op. 59 No. 2, written for Count Razumovsky, the Russian ambassador in Vienna, and quoting a Russian folk tune, shares the programme with Janáček's First Quartet of 1923, which takes its title and its story of jealousy from Tolstoy's novella The Kreutzer Sonata. The players are violinists Peter Zazofsky and Tatiana Dimitriades, violist Danny Kim and cellist Jonathan Miller, the ensemble's artistic director.
