Magnificat for a Rose: Christmas with Cappella Clausura
Sat Dec 12 · 6pm, Grace Episcopal Church (Newton) / Sun Dec 13 · 5pm, All Saints Ashmont (Dorchester)
Cappella Clausura’s Christmas programme sets two images of divine womanhood side by side: the rose of Angelus Silesius’s 1657 couplet, which “blooms because it blooms,” and the Magnificat, Mary’s song of the mighty cast down and the humble lifted up. The ensemble sings music by Erna Woll, Rebecca Clarke, Sulpitia Cesis and Yshani Perinpanayagam. The Sunday performance moves to All Saints Ashmont in Dorchester.
