A Halloween Mystery: How "The Raven" Became America’s Most (In)famous Poem
Paul Lewis, Professor Emeritus of English at Boston College and a past president of the Poe Studies Association, explains how Poe’s “The Raven” outlasted the more than 5,300 poems American magazines published in 1845, and whether Poe’s reputation as a feuding critic helped it along. Lewis also helped have a Boston square dedicated to Poe and a statue installed there in 2014. Signed copies of his book are on sale.
