MIT’s Annual Family Weekend Concert: Virtuosic Legacies
MIT's Family Weekend concert is given over to 20th-century music. The MIT Wind Ensemble, under Frederick E. Harris, Jr. and assistant conductor Kenneth Amis, plays Copland's El Salón México, Shostakovich's Folk Dances, Grainger's Irish Tune from County Derry and Shepherd's Hey, and Amis's Legacy. The Festival Jazz Ensemble follows with Ellington, Mingus and Jobim, joined by vocalist Laura Grill Jaye, who directs the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and some of its singers.
