Requiem for America: Singing for the Invisible People
The Boston Cecilia joins White Snake Projects for the Boston premiere of Brent Michael Davids’s Requiem for America: Singing for the Invisible People, which confronts the genocidal founding of the United States in 19 movements, from “The Doctrine of Discovery” to “Threnodia: We Are Still Here.” Tianhui Ng conducts, with Indigenous singers from local tribal communities. The Guardian called its BBC premiere in May “heavy, urgent, necessary.”
