Dec 4/6 · 7:30pm/3pm
Fri Dec 4 · 7:30pm, First Church in Cambridge / Sun Dec 6 · 3pm, All Saints Parish (Brookline)
Cecilia shares the stage with one of the Boston City Singers children's choruses for seasonal music written for children and adults alike, including Michael Praetorius, whose settings of Lutheran hymn tunes have been sung at Christmas for four centuries. Two performances, in Cambridge and Brookline.
Sun Apr 4
A two-part evening built around Brahms's Liebeslieder Waltzes — eighteen love songs for four voices and piano duet — with other pieces the chorus describes as audience favourites.
Sat May 22
The Boston Cecilia gives the premiere of Ōgane, a new work written for the choir by the composer Derek Hurst and inspired by the sound of Japanese temple bells. It is scored for chorus, vocal soloists and chamber orchestra. Around it the choir sings music by Bach, by the Renaissance Flemish composer Nicolas Gombert, by Blevins and by others. The concert closes Cecilia's 2026–27 season, titled Perspectives.
