Polarization and Populism: Challenges for Liberal Democracies
Peter M. Huber, a former judge of Germany's Federal Constitutional Court and now a visiting fellow at New York University, and David Art, professor of political science at Tufts, discuss how polarization and populism are shaping debate in Germany and the United States, and how open societies can admit controversial views without endangering their democratic foundations. Hannes Kerber of Boston College moderates; the American Council on Germany co-presents.
