Edward Burns: The Marlboro Road Gang

Edward Burns, the filmmaker who wrote, directed and starred in The Brothers McMullen, winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 1995, reads from The Marlboro Road Gang, his second novel. It follows his 2024 debut, which Harlan Coben called “a beautiful tribute to the last days of childhood.” Burns has also acted in Saving Private Ryan and created the television series Public Morals.

Katherine Grandjean discusses Kingdom of Devils: A Tale of Murder in the Shadow of the American Revolution, which follows a string of violent deaths on the post-Revolutionary frontier and what they expose about the era's unrecorded violence. Grandjean teaches history at Wellesley College and wrote American Passage.

The tenth annual Authors and Innovators, a free day of talks for business readers curated and sponsored by the law firm Gennari Aronson with Wellesley Books, takes “The Nimble Entrepreneur” as its theme. More than a dozen authors and leaders appear, among them Nitin Nohria, former dean of Harvard Business School, the MIT Sloan economist Paul Osterman and Lita Nelsen, longtime head of MIT's Technology Licensing Office.

Joanne Chang, the James Beard Award-winning baker who founded Boston's Flour bakeries and co-owns Myers+Chang, discusses The Joy of Cookies: New Classics and Old Favorites to Share. Known as the “cookie girl” at Harvard, she opens the book with “a baker’s dozen of baking questions” before chapters of bars, sandwich cookies and savoury ones. Ashley Stanley, founder of the food-rescue nonprofit Lovin' Spoonfuls, joins her.
