Outsiders in Horror with Brandeis University Professor Brandon Callender

Brandon Callender, assistant professor of English at Brandeis University, talks about outsiders in horror fiction and film. His research explores where Black, queer and horror studies meet, and his courses include The Ghosts of Race and Vampires: Dark Fictions of Blood. A Berkeley PhD, he has discussed “How Horror Creates Meaning” on NPR’s 1A and is a recurring discussant at the Brattle Theatre.

Classical Pianist Lucas Kamon in Concert

Pianist Lucas Kamon gives a solo classical recital. Kamon earned his degree in piano performance at the University of New Hampshire, where he studied with Philip Solomonick and Mathilde Handelsman, has given more than 200 performances across New England, and teaches piano through the UNH Piano Extension Program and the Seacoast Academy of Music. No registration is required.

Wildlife ecologist Brad Timm draws on his book Wildlife Out Your Window to show the hidden behaviours, adaptations and ecological roles of New England’s most familiar birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and insects. Illustrated with photographs, videos and stories from his years of fieldwork, the talk also offers science-based ideas for making a yard, neighbourhood or community more welcoming to wildlife.
