The Ocean Carbon Sink: Facts, Fictions, and Opportunities
Oceanographer Marina Lévy gives the John H. Carlson Lecture, co-presented with MIT’s Lorenz Center, following carbon through phytoplankton, marine life and ocean circulation to explain how the sea absorbs about a quarter of human CO₂ emissions, and weighing proposals to make it absorb more. Lévy, a senior scientist at France’s CNRS based at Sorbonne University, directs the Sorbonne University Alliance’s Ocean Institute.
