Boublil and Schonberg's setting of Hugo, following Valjean from the galleys through the June Rebellion of 1832 while Javert pursues him. This is the newer production staged by arrangement with Cameron Mackintosh, not the original revolving-stage version. Hugo published the novel in 1862, and it runs past a thousand pages.
