The Lydian String Quartet's Beethoven+ series pairs Beethoven's first published quartet, Op. 18 No. 1 in F major, with his first Razumovsky quartet, Op. 59 No. 1. Between them comes Iris ter Schiphorst's Und doch…, written with Op. 18 No. 1 as its reference point and described by the German composer as "an attempt to draw a very personal trace of memory." The Lydian is Brandeis University's quartet in residence.

The Lydian String Quartet, Brandeis University’s resident quartet, continues its Beethoven cycle with two quartets: Op. 18, No. 5 in A major, the early work modelled on Mozart, and the second Razumovsky, Op. 59, No. 2 in E minor. Between them sits Lera Auerbach’s Quartet No. 10, Frozen Dreams, written for a joint commission of works inspired by the four seasons.

The Lydian String Quartet, Brandeis University’s resident quartet, brings its Beethoven cycle to the Quartet in C-sharp minor, Op. 131, the seven-movement late work Beethoven considered his greatest in the form, preceded by Op. 18, No. 6 in B-flat major, the close of his early set. Between them comes Jörg Widmann’s String Quartet No. 4, a compact piece built from walking, step and breathing gestures.

The last concert of the Lydian String Quartet's Beethoven+ series, which presents the complete Beethoven string quartets across two seasons with the Goethe-Institut and ends near the 200th anniversary of the composer's death. Beethoven's Op. 74, the Harp, and Op. 130 with the Grosse Fuge, Op. 133, frame Birke Bertelmeier's Crisis. The quartet is Clara Lyon, Julia Glenn, Mark Berger and Joshua Gordon.
