Emissary Quartet, four flutists, performs the programme of its debut album [moment]um, built on the Japanese concept of jo-ha-kyū: music that begins slowly, accelerates and ends swiftly. The pieces, written for flutes and auxiliary flutes, are all by living composers: Jennifer Higdon, Kai-Young Chan, Sung-Hyun Yun, Nicky Sohn, Heike Beckmann and Herman Beeftink. The quartet's members are Kari Boyer, Allison Asthana, Sarah Shin and Chelsea Tanner.
