Bill Barclay's play with music, an original adaptation of The Life and Music of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, follows the Black violin virtuoso through his friendships with Mozart and Marie Antoinette and his “widely unrecognized contribution to the abolition of slavery.” Barclay conceived, wrote and directs it. The Chamber Orchestra of Boston opens its season with the piece, in collaboration with Concert Theatre Works and Project STEP.
