Duffy has run Rockport’s Beech Tree B&B with his wife Helene for 16 years.

Working in the documentary tradition through long relationships with the people she photographs, including in Gloucester, Rearick pictures shared public spaces where communities gather and build traditions. Docent Miriam Weinstein, whose Yiddish: A Nation of Words won a National Jewish Book Award, leads the conversation.

Artful Conversations: Conversations between Regionalism and Modernism

· · ·

Docent Tobi Klein explores the meeting of American Modernism and Regionalism on Cape Ann, using a 1916 Stuart Davis sketch, Sketch–Church Tower, and Gifford Beal’s Sword Fisherman (1930) to look at how artists answered the upheaval after World War I and why many painters turned to detailed scenes of rural life during the Depression. Klein, a mixed-media artist in Rockport, taught painting and drawing at Rochester Institute of Technology.
