Boston Camerata marks the death of Joel Cohen, who directed the ensemble from 1963 to 2008 and remained its music director emeritus until he died on 26 July 2026. Songs of the young American republic — marches, anthems, spirituals and ballads by New England citizen-composers, alongside what the Camerata calls liberty's attendants: feminists, abolitionists, freed slaves and religious minorities. The programme was first commissioned by the Paris Philharmonie in 2018 and has since been recorded for Harmonia Mundi.

Christmas in the English-speaking world from the Middle Ages through the Renaissance to early America — mostly art music transcribed from old manuscripts and prints, but plain in manner and with a strong folk vein. The programme opens with the thirteenth-century Edi be thu hevene quene, and revives a Camerata holiday staple after two generations.

La Estrella: A Hispanic Christmas

· · 11 Garden St · · ·

Christmas music from Renaissance Iberia and the Hispanic settlements of the New World, where encounters among indigenous Americans, Spaniards and West Africans produced unusual vocal colours and rhythms. Winds, Iberian harp and percussion carry it, and the Camerata's singers are joined by Pan-American choral voices.
