Professional Writing and Music Technology Division Quartet in Residence: The Rhythm Method

The Rhythm Method, a New York string quartet of four performer-composers, plays contemporary music including new pieces by Berklee writing students, as part of its residency in the college’s Professional Writing and Music Technology Division. The quartet sets out to reimagine the string quartet “in a contemporary, feminist context,” using improvisation, vocalization and graphic notation, and has played Roulette, Joe’s Pub and the Met Museum.

Grace Shryock, oboe, plays with Boston Lyric Opera and the Albany and Springfield symphonies and was for four years acting English horn of the New York Philharmonic; Ashley Addington, flute, plays with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project and Sound Icon.
