Donald Nally, who leads The Crossing, the Philadelphia professional choir devoted to new music, and has won four Grammy Awards for Best Choral Performance, guest conducts the Chorale in a programme of his most celebrated commissions, among them Michael Gilbertson’s Cloud Anthem. Music director Stephen Spinelli also conducts. It is the third concert in a season the Chorale has built around figures who commissioned new music.

Fri May 7 · 8:00pm

Serge Koussevitzky: Creative Catalyst

· · · ·

Randall Thompson's Alleluia and Poulenc's Gloria both came from Koussevitzky commissions; the Gloria had its premiere with the soprano Adele Addison and the Boston Symphony in 1961. Addison is now in her 101st year. The programme frames Koussevitzky as the figure who made Boston a centre for new work.
