[ENVS] Climate Change and Conflict in Africa
Eoin McGuirk, associate professor of economics at Tufts, asks whether climate change is contributing to civil conflict in Africa and, if so, through what mechanisms. His talk examines the link between rising aridity in pastoral Africa and farmer-herder conflicts across the continent. McGuirk has written on the subject with Harvard economist Nathan Nunn, in a paper on transhumant pastoralism, climate change and conflict.
