This Was a Woman (1948)
Tim Whelan's This Was a Woman (1948) casts Sonia Dresdel as a domineering matriarch who wrecks the lives of her husband and daughter, a British variation on the 1936 Hollywood drama Craig's Wife that moves into manipulation and murder. Barbara White and Walter Fitzgerald co-star under the American director. It shows in a Park Circus DCP as part of Great Expectations, the Archive's survey of postwar British cinema.
