Epic Tales Across the Globe: Retellings from India to New England
E. Lockhart, author of the We Were Liars series, and Newbery Honor winner Rajani LaRocca discuss the art of retelling. Lockhart’s The Pools moves The Wild Swans to modern New England, in a love story about two teenagers whose lives are shattered by a shocking transformation; LaRocca’s YA debut, Such Great Heights, retells the Hindu epic the Ramayana with a renewed focus on women. Katie B. Kohn moderates.
