Venetian Light, Dresden Fervor
Vivaldi’s Gloria (RV 589) and Magnificat (RV 610), written for the musicians of the Ospedale della Pietà in Venice, share the programme with Jan Dismas Zelenka’s Dixit Dominus, from the Dresden court. Artistic director Michael Driscoll, whose dissertation on Zelenka’s Dixit Dominus settings won a 2016 prize from the American Choral Directors Association, leads soprano Maria Whitcomb, mezzo-soprano Laura Couch, tenor Matthew McGinnis, bass William Farrell and chamber orchestra.
