3 Centuries of a Black Family in JP, from Slavery to Freedom
Researchers from Hidden Jamaica Plain tell the story of a Black family whose history in the neighbourhood spanned three centuries and was bound up with local Black and Indigenous communities. Peter Bridgham, enslaved in the 1700s, gained his freedom and established a Centre Street homestead that "nurtured four generations." The Historical Society's program is free and hybrid, with a Zoom webinar alongside the in-person talk.
