directed by Albert Lewin

Cinema Salem · Cinema Salem · 1 East India Square Mall · Salem

Albert Lewin's 1945 adaptation of Oscar Wilde's novel follows a handsome young man (Hurd Hatfield) who trades his soul so that his portrait ages while he stays young. George Sanders plays the cynical Lord Henry Wotton, and Angela Lansbury the singer Sibyl Vane, a role that earned her an Oscar nomination; Donna Reed co-stars. Shot in black and white, it shows the portrait in Technicolor inserts. A Wednesday Classics screening.
