Calvin Mires: Beyond Shipwrecks (Stonehill Scholar Series)
Calvin Mires, a maritime archaeologist, argues that shipwrecks sit where the humanities meet science and that archaeologists and ocean scientists need to work together more closely. A research associate at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, he helped establish its field of maritime heritage ecology, which studies sunken sites as habitats for marine life, and he is a lead archaeologist for the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency.
