Marie Antoinette
David Adjmi's play takes the queen from her arrival at Versailles as a teenage bride to her fall, written in deliberately modern language and staged with modern design. Adjmi treats her as a celebrity under permanent scrutiny rather than a historical figure, and the script is darkly comic about the gap between the court's rituals and the country outside them.
