Morris Loeb Lectures in Physics: Can Evolution Be Understood Quantitatively?

· · · 17 Oxford St. ·

Tue Nov 10 / Wed Nov 11 / Thu Nov 12 · 4:30pm

Daniel S. Fisher, Marjorie Mhoon Fair Professor of Science in applied physics at Stanford, gives the 2026 Morris Loeb Lectures in Physics on why the dynamics of evolution remain so little understood quantitatively. Later lectures ask "What Numbers Matter?", "Why Is There So Much Diversity?" and "How Much Sex Is Enough?", drawing on microbial populations in the lab and in nature and on simple theoretical models.
