Breaking Barriers: Creativity, Identity, and Social Change

· · ·

A panel on creativity, gender and institutional discrimination built around the Swedish composer, organist and conductor Elfrida Andrée (1841–1929), who forged a career in nineteenth-century Sweden despite the barriers women faced. Conductor Sarah Ioannides, Andrée scholar Jonathan Spatola-Knoll, psychoanalyst Stephanie Brody, Liane Curtis of Women’s Philharmonic Advocacy and theologian Hee An Choi take part. It accompanies BU’s performances of Andrée’s music, including her Suffrage Cantata.
