· · ·

George Lusztig speaks at the MIT mathematics department’s Lie Groups Seminar, a research-level seminar in representation theory. Lusztig, an MIT mathematician, is known for Deligne–Lusztig theory, developed with Pierre Deligne in 1976 to study representations of finite groups of Lie type, and for the Kazhdan–Lusztig polynomials he introduced with David Kazhdan in 1979. He received the Shaw Prize in 2014 and the Wolf Prize in 2022.
