MLK Scholar Presentation: Jabari Evans — Hip-Hop Civics
Jabari Evans, a visiting professor at MIT as an MLK Scholar, examines hip-hop as a form of civic media through which urban communities “create knowledge, build networks, and make themselves visible.” Drawing on ethnographic research, creative practice and community-engaged scholarship, he connects those practices to digital platforms, artificial intelligence and the “clout economy,” asking whose voices and values will shape the technologies to come.
