Irish Immigration in 19th-Century New England
Lucy Salyer, professor emerita of history and justice studies at the University of New Hampshire, talks on St. Patrick's Day about the Irish in 19th-century New England, beginning with the mass immigration of the industrial revolution and including Irish immigration to Dedham itself. Salyer is the author of Under the Starry Flag, about Irish American Fenians whose arrest in Ireland set off a crisis over citizenship.
