The Wellesley Symphony Orchestra plays two large works with an eye on space. Mason Bates’s The B Sides, composed in 2009, adds electronic sounds to the orchestra as one more instrument. Holst’s suite The Planets follows, each movement named for a planet and its astrological character; the orchestra notes the suite has nearly 100 published orchestral recordings. Tickets are pay-what-you-can, with a reception after the concert.
