Classics Keynote: Translation Across Time
Emily Wilson, the classicist known for her translations of Homer’s Odyssey and Iliad, discusses Crossing the Wine-Dark Sea: Journeys Through Ancient Literature, a book on translating the ancient past. She is in conversation with translator and editor Daniel Hahn, author of If This Be Magic: The Unlikely Art of Shakespeare in Translation. Their topics include Aristophanes’ obscenities, puns, Helen of Troy’s politics and Hamlet’s soliloquies.
