The Debut (2026), written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg, is a comedy about Mona Friedman (Julianne Moore), a suburban housewife who lands a community theatre role and obsesses over her first performance under a demanding director, Jerry (Paul Giamatti). Halle Bailey, K. Todd Freeman and Eisenberg also appear. It plays in IFFBoston’s Fall Focus; Anita Lee’s Toronto International Film Festival note called it “hilarious and smart from beginning to end.”
