A Bittersweet History: The Role of Chocolate in 18th-Century New England
Historian and educator Michele Gabrielson leads an interactive demonstration on chocolate in the 18th century, when what had been an exclusive drink became a delicacy across the world. She traces its journey from Mesoamerica to Spain, across Europe and back to the American colonies, and the program ends with a tasting of chocolate as colonists would have had it. Members free; non-members $10 at the door.
