Without Anesthesia, aka Rough Treatment (1978)
In Andrzej Wajda's 1978 film, Jerzy (Zbigniew Zapasiewicz), a war correspondent back in Warsaw, says the wrong thing on television and watches his career, relationship and reputation fall apart. Loosely drawn from the travails of the journalist Ryszard Kapuściński, it was the first of five screenplays Agnieszka Holland wrote for Wajda, with Krystyna Janda as Agata, a silent student who watches his slide into apathy and drink.
