Dana Leibsohn, the Alice Pratt Brown Professor of Art at Smith College, follows wax collected in the Philippines and shipped across the Pacific to the Americas, asking how bees, forests and wax became colonial subjects in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Leibsohn co-directed the Terra Foundation project “Pacific America” and edits the Colonial Latin American Review. Hosted by Religious Studies, with a reception beforehand; RSVP requested.
