Bar Zemach and Jascha Nemtsov: Shofar and Piano
Horn and shofar player Bar Zemach and pianist Jascha Nemtsov explore what the shofar, the ram’s-horn trumpet of Jewish ritual, can do alongside the piano in contemporary performance. Zemach works across new music, historical performance and Jewish musical traditions; Nemtsov’s work as performer and researcher has centred on Jewish music and on composers suppressed under the Nazi and Soviet regimes. A masterclass and presentation precede it that afternoon.
