Physics Colloquium: Natalia Drichko on Quantum Liquids of Spins and Dipoles
In a Boston College physics colloquium, Natalia Drichko of Johns Hopkins University presents her work on organic Mott insulators based on the BEDT-TTF molecule, model systems in which geometric frustration keeps electrons from settling into order. She shows how electronic correlations produce spin liquids and quantum dipole liquids, how Raman scattering spectroscopy detects them, and how external strain tunes the materials’ ground state across their phase diagram.
