Happy Birthday, Wanda June!
Kurt Vonnegut's 1970 comedy recasts the Odyssey. Penelope Ryan's husband Harold, a legendary soldier and millionaire, has been missing in the jungle for eight years; her son insists he will return, a hippie doctor and a vacuum-cleaner salesman compete for her, and the ghosts of Harold's past, little Wanda June among them, keep interrupting. Then Harold walks in on his birthday.
